THE HISTORY OF PUNK ROCK Underground rock is a style of music that started in 1964 in New York City at an underground club called The Dom. This little known club at the time was the impetus that began punk headed straight toward what it is today (History Punk). Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols was cited saying; ?Punk was made as a solution for fatigue.? (Punk History).
